"The things we want to see / hear" - a Vic20 Development Competition sponsored by Vic20-Ian.

Additional sponsors are welcome please pm me if you have a prize or support to offer.

This competition is carefully titled to be as inclusive as possible after a previous discussion thread.

Anything released in 2021 may be submitted e.g. games I saw released this week were excellent.

The Top physical prize overall is a brand new Retrogames Limited TheVic20 value is about ~$140.

I have purchased two and have one in hand for the prize.

Additional prizes will be added in the coming weeks in this thread.

Kudos will also be awarded for each category by peer ranking.

1. Games

2. Hardware / Peripheral

3. Artwork

4. Music composition

5. Scene Demo

6. Modifications

Digital releases are welcome. Additional points can be gained by doing a physical release e.g. tape or cartridge with box, instructions.


Closing date for entries will be November 30th, 2021 with judging completed before Christmas.

Exciting stuff, thanks to you and Jeff! I have a couple questions, and possibly more of them later:

(1) Can we have more than one entry?
(2) What's the process for submission?

In our local shows here you can enter multiple categories and entries.

As the competition is themed about things we want to see / hear and we all want to see more, I see no reason to restrict productivity.

I will put together a submission form and find a good way to submit the entries in the coming weeks.

Yes, of course, you are the creator.

This competition is to stimulate some extra Vic20 creation in 2021 for as many Vic20 users as possible.

If the interest is in a competition for all of 2021, then maybe push it out to January or February. Then, if it becomes annual, your rule could be that it's for products produced in the previous calendar year.

If you're concerned about lack of entries, keep in mind that you never introduced a formal entry mechanism. That would probably help at least a bit.
