What is your soldering setup
Following on from here. I decided it would be good to see the tools used by the other forum members.
This is my solder station. I guess I paid 40 euros about 8 years ago. This could be a cost wise alternative.

Here is mine
PRG Starter - a VICE helper / Vic Software (Boray Gammon, SD2IEC music player, Vic Disk Menu, Tribbles, Mega Omega, How Many 8K etc.)
Re: What is your soldering setup
Mine looks like Boray's, except I have a DIY heat gun for heavy-duty desoldering

Re: What is your soldering setup
I have neither the eyes, steady hand or patience to use a plug in iron and tweezers after my 1st destructive attempt are proving the z80 from a c128. I naively believed a youtube video and domestic vacuum cleaner. Scorched the board and my fingers too...

That might be why this company doesn't exist anymore. Weller bought out the company and a few years later the replacement tips and heating elements vanished from the market.Boray wrote:Ungar!? That means kids in swedish.
I can still use my 9000 unit because I had pair of spare tips in stock and a few months ago I found half a dozen replacement tips at Abra electronics. They were being liquidated at 1$ can. each.
Be normal.
Re: What is your soldering setup
I am using my old and trusted Weller WMD-3. To this I have 2 80W irons and a heat gun.
I also have a ZD-915, a infra oven for SMD boards and some various smaller tools. But mainly it is the Weller that does the trick.

Where do you get replacement filters for your ZD-915?

Re: What is your soldering setup
No clue actually!
I just bought it and haven't used it yet, so I have not come so long in the use and thought.
Sorry!

I did. Very expensive especially posting. This is the best I found. http://komerci.de/shop/product_info.php?products_id=914 but I would have expected 100 from China for this price

Re: What is your soldering setup
Normally I desolder between 300-320 degrees C. Today I "accidentally" desoldered some chips at 400 degrees C. I was amazed that the chips survived and how quickly the job was done. Later I reduced to 360C and continued.
What temp do you normally desolder with a desolder gun?
