Boray's Vic-20 game awards of 2014

Boray's Vic-20 game awards of 2014

This is a way for me to say thanks for the best new free games of 2014 that I've enjoyed the most. If your game isn't on the list, then don't feel bad, this award is highly objective and based on my own likings only. To find the games, look in the 2014 releases thread: http://sleepingelephant.com/ipw-web/bul ... =15&t=6793

The number one Vic-20 game programmer of 2014 is:
#1 Misfit - For the games Bertie the Ball, Super Starship Space Attack (and ViccyBird). These two games (Bertie the Ball, Super Starship Space Attack) are truly awesome and would easily have been top selling games if released in 1981/1982. I would think most active Vic-20 users probably agree with me on this.

Second place:
#2 Pixel - For the game Pulse. This is Skramble on steroids. This is definitely a gear up in the genre. There are still a few glitches seen in the screen sometimes though. And the game is a bit too easy. But on the whole - very impressive!

Third place:
#3 Beamrider - For the game Tank Battalion. It's a nice game, and it makes good use of the big PAL screen.

Fourth place:
#4 Peter van der Woude - For the game Get the Cat. There has been other more technically advanced games released in 2014, but I like this game better. It has a good game idea, a nice retro feeling and plays well.

Congratulations on your great games!

And there is a prize for you too (of course). As a thanks, you will all four get a free download of my latest music album (priced $12):

You will get a special download link by PM.

Thanks!

I'm just listening at "Next time"- track.

Hey! Thanks a lot! :D

Downloaded the music and will check how it affects coding sessions tonight. :)

Not even a mention for Realms of Quest IV and - for something completely different - Panicman?
Tsk - tsk :)

Just joking, congrats to all of you, the new VIC software still impresses after all those years.

Realms of Quest is not a free game... and Panicman bugged out on me when I tried it, so I wasn't really able to play it, plus, I'm not really for when people try to reinvent the wheel for the hundred time. (In other words - I'm tired of Pac Man  ). All games I picked have brought something new to the platform. There, they are mentioned. ;) Other vic game programmers of 2014 are Jeff, Schlowski and Donkeysoft. Thank you all for contributing to the platform.

Thanks Boray!

I downloaded your Music and I really like it!

Never thought of “Get the Cat” as a *serious* release. But nice to see some people like to play it. Planning to make a new game in 2015.

This is fun. I miss the minigame comp. We should revive something like that here.

The actual winners are all us fellow Denials who get the benefits of so many talented and creative coders.

Thanks for some real great entertainment the past year (and the years before and...)

Sincerely yours
Peter

All good picks and ranks, Boray. The fresh supply of VIC goodies never ceases. :D
