I've known about this for quite a while.

However, european being who they are, there is no NTSC version. This is PAL only.

The complete original Commodore Vic-20 hardware, including the CPU, recreated in a single FPGA. The design is about 1400 Xilinx slices in size, and has a gate count of about 350K gates.

It would be possible to take advantage of the re-configurable nature of FPGA's and expand the capabilities of the original machine, for example greater colour depth, screen resolution or number of audio channels. This could even be achieved dynamically while the machine is running, and with careful mapping of the additional registers required, complete compatibility with the original could be maintained.
Interesting!

A thing that I can program as a VIC in basic or assembly but has more modern specs, I'd like to have one.

Heh, that reminds of Hi65, the C65 emulator. See http://devilmaster.altervista.org/hi65.html

Hmyeah, I see where I wasn't precise
Maybe it's why I moved on to the the C128 when my VIC project got stuck. Now that it's almost done on C128, I will get back to doing it on the VIC though.

i am sorry for replying to your bullshit yet again, but you leave me no choice.
i have asked a simple question, because i am wondering why it matters. so far you werent able to come up with a single reason for why it matters. from my point of view it matters very little, if at all, because simply there isnt a whole lot of software that would only work on NTSC machines. moreover, IF there is software that depends on the video system, it is most likely PAL. that may well be wrong and perhaps there is tons of NTSC specific vic20 software around somewhere, hence i am asking the question.
and that has exactly nothing to do with "arrogance" or "being better than others" or whatever nonsense you apparently feel challenged with. try not being offended every time someone questions something you think is super important.

and you really should keep your mouth shut about "arrogance" when you post bold generalizations like
However, european being who they are, there is no NTSC version. This is PAL only.
