The Explorer
A game for the Unexpanded Vic 20, joystick controlled. All BASIC.

The explorer is a "snake" type game. A joystick is required. It's pretty much self-explanatory, just fiddle around with it until it makes sense to you.

Note: This game CAN be won. That is, the objective to touch the unknown is possible, but the consequence of failure is pretty steep.

I've been thinking about space exploration lately and wrote this last night.

i made my way over to the left hand side of the screen in 'bitmap land' and the program crashed to a flashing cursor - typed poke36869,240 to go back to text mode and this did nothing - have i found a 'bug'?

I wanted you to see that you're IN the program. The goal is to transverse the program itself (after questioning how it all works). Of course this is destructive to the code. The goal is to reach the flashing goal without crashing it. The trick is to identify what is connected to your movement (variables, etc) and move around them.
Sorry about the long first part. It was meant to set up the objective.
