The CPLD itself uses IO/3 for it's control register.

Currently FE3 is not able to use IO region as RAM

----

The Wedge will be bigger and bigger. currentlich the 3K is too small for all commands.

In the upcoming release 21 of FE3 firmware I only use a small stub in 3K memory which
+ switch on the ROM at block 5
+ call function in wedge
+ switch back to RAM in block 5

maybe I make a FE3 kernel, which doesn't take any space in memory

Looking at the construction page for the FE3 http://www.for8bits.com/vc20fe3r9_assembly.htm it shows under the Resistor section a plastic orange thing called a Resistor and Diode gauge. It's used for bending the components to the right size to drop in the PCB.

Does anyone know where these can be bought? I have looked and can not find a source.

This is a great item that I'd love to add to my electronic construction tool draw.

I got mine from a electronic parts distributor without ordering it. I bought a resistor collection (ten items for each values, about 1000 resistors) and this gauge was a part of it.

Sometimes you can get it on eBay: click

Hi, Thanks for that info.
The eBay listing you sent does not ship to Australia sadly.
If you see more please let me know.
Also what is the proper name for this thing so I can search also?

Try looking for "Component Leg Bending Tool". Altronics has them for $2.20 here: http://www.altronics.com.au/index.asp?a ... m&id=T1495

You might be able to find these at Dick Smith or Jaycar stores too...

Oh Wow, Thanks!. Altronics does the trick. We have them here in Australia. None local but I can still do a mail order or something. It's a shame JayCar don't have them as we have a JayCar in our town.

Cool thanks for the help!.

Great!

BTW, are there any programs out yet that make use of the 512K RAM?
Buy the new Bug-Wizard, the first 100 bugs are free!

I can't read that web site.

Where's the English link to click for it?

It all comes up in German or Martian or something similar. :(

Yes, it is a german shop. Donald does speak german only. But it should be no problem to translate your communication. Donald is a very reliable man.

Hi Diddl,
can you give me technical details about the SD2IEC mounted on board the FE3?

Does it support JiffyDOS like the uIEC/SD of Jim Brain?

Would it be possible to do a sort of direct through cart port type of loading and saving so as to create an equivalent of CMD HD/RAMLink on the VIC-20?
Be normal.

Yes, it supports Jiffy and Jiffy+.

It is nearly the same as µIEC. FE3 has a built in SD2IEC. SD2IEC is very popular in europe retro scene. From sight of C64 or VIC-20 it makes no difference, it's exactly the same.

Jim has made µIEC using same firmware as SD2IEC (it is open source). It use another controller as SD2IEC usually does.

No.

FE3 consists of two parts of hardware, which are completely separated. So it is impossible to access SD without IEC connector.

FE3 = FE2 + SD2IEC

The option "Löthilfe" means that there is no kit, but a device constructed and tested.
