Hi, I posted a few times, but I didn't introduce myself. My nickname is my real name. So no need to explain that.

I began computing in 1981 (I was eleven) with a ZX81 (Timex 1000), all black and white and no sound. Imagine my envy when I saw color and sound computers with arcade games! Soon after I got a Vic-20. I even wrote some games for it. To my surprise i saw “Ghost Attack

HI the names Jim and my forum name is my Amateur Radio Callsign.

I collect all sorts of retro gaming stuff and had never went in the direction of computer till a month ago . Now we have a C64 , a VIC-20, and a Atari 800 and 400.

I do alot of mods and assemble alot of kits for friends and such.

Hello everybody, and nice to meet you all.
I am an italian guy, and I was born in 1972. I was one of the lucky boys who got the Vic20 in its golden days. I live in Rome and I recently moved.
After the move, I checked for my Vic-20, and I discovered -with HORROR- that a lot of stuff was lost during the move

Well, I will not tell you all about that, but I was very, very angry. All I have now is the console, that's all. No wires, no datassette and none of my precious cartridges (not to mention of the Memory Expansion cart 3-8-16-32 K).

I was waiting to connect my good old Vic before to join Denial but today I discovered that almost all my stuff was lost. I decided to join Denial in any case, and now I'm roaming on e-bay to buy another Vic with the wires and so on. Also because I really wanted to buy the Mega Cart.
Too bad, I've to buy the joystick as well.
Really, I'm mad about that!

Ok... now I got it out of my chest.
Well, I'm 39 yo, I'm not a programmer, but I'm an enthusiastic Vic-20 user and player. I enjoy in RPG and in drawing comics.
I choosed "Spectrum" as nickname because the zx Spectrum was my second computer, after the Vic. I had a nice 48k Speccy, and I loved to play with it. I am probably one of the few that didn't upgraded to a C64 after the Vic20, in Italy.
Moreover, Spectrum is also the nickname I use when I sign my comics or pin-ups, so I decided to keep it for Denial as well.
Although I am joining right now, I am exploring Denial since long time. Now I will have a chance to gives messages to the wonderful authors of so many nice games that I will now play on my... oh well, I will play them on my emulator VICE... sigh.
But I will soon find the REAL thing (a real VIC) soon and I'll be back on the real hardware.

Ok...that's all for now, I think.
I'm gonna on e-bay to find a Vic-20 and a joystick...and then I will buy a Mega-cart...
Please, be patient with my english... it got a strong "spaghetti-flavour".

Welcome to Denial Spectrum. I also "upgraded" to a spectrum after our VIC 20, but our Spectrum was a +3. I never did like it how I liked the VIC.

I should have added that after the +3, we returned to the Commodore fold and got an Amiga 500+. Seeing as it was GAME OVER for Sinclair by then, I reckon lots of Spectrum owners did that, or got an Atari ST.


Bad news about your VIC stuff btw. Hope you are able to replace it, the good thing is to do it now, as that stuff seems much rarer than Spectrum or C64 stuff.

Seem that a friend of mine will give me his Vic-20 wires... so I've just to get a joystick and the Megacart to start. Then I'll look for a Datassette.

AV and RGB scart leads are readily available on eBay if you want a good picture and don't want to spend time fiddling with the RF.

So no prob at all!
Moreover, I remember that I always brought my Speccy with me when I went to see a friend who owned a C64, and we enjoyed both the computers and games, switching from a system to the other.
I loved to play the colourful arcade-styled games on the C64, and my friends was totally in love with some good ol' Speccy games as Sabre Wulf, or Atic Atac.

But now, my main concern is still my Vic... I've to resurrect it!

Of course we are - it's like being distant relatives coming from a common ancestor .

I must admit I did more or less the same with a friend of mine. I remember playing all those text/graphics adventures on his little black computer, such as the Marvel heroes, or the Hobbit, and 3D games like Head Over Heels, The Great Escape, and most of all the seminal Ant Attack.
On the C64 side, it was all about platforms, colourful space games, and music with the SID (we spent minutes listening to the Green Beret intro tune ).

But now, my main concern is still my Vic... I've to resurrect it!
