... how'd they do the one pixel scroll with color? Geez, I wish those guys weren't too cool to hang out here.

Erm, I coded it and I lurk here. ;)

The colour screen is just a basic double-buffered vertical scroller, but doing both colour ram banks as well. (thankfully that's much less hassle than on c64) The one pixel scrolling is achieved by carefully NOP'ing and DEC'ing $9001 over a small loop, which sets the rest of the screen position up. It's also used in the intro with the picture scrolling downwards, but there is no screen copy needed there. tbh my implementation is a little unstable, a far better one was in one of Aleksi Eeben's early demos but I've not checked how he does it.

Oh, sorry. I read too fast and missed stuff. Anyway, this is amazing!

sorry for grabbing this out...
I'm looking for a working DL-Link for this demo !
Can't find it on Internet. (Dead links on pouet.scene.org & orb-demo.net)

Does anyone can give me the demo as *.prg or *.d64 image, please ?

If you still haven't found it (I noticed the DL link is still down), I stumbled across it looking through an old drive. I hope the link gets fixed soon, but in the mean time I uploaded it here

Thanks to the resurrection of this thread, that impressive demo came to my attention, thanks Vicman!

I noticed two familiar names in the demo: Aleksi and Viznut. Aren't they posters here on Denial?

Aleksi and Viznut are both registered here, but you can count their posts by the fingers of two hands (and maybe the feet's toes, too).

Aha, then I probably know them from other demos and Pouet.net.

Yeah, between the two of them they've produced some amazing things on the VIC. I still wish that Aleksi would come back and develop Dragonwing a little further!

@4mat, Are you still lurking here? Do you have any plans to do some more stuff on the VIC... Go on, give the little machine some love! :)
