New Release: FIFA World Cup 2010

Post by Jeff-20 »

FIFA WORLD CUP 2010

A game for the Unexpanded Vic 20, Joystick required. All BASIC.

Image

I promise this is not another stupid shoot out game like my last one. :) I made this today during the USA v GHA game (I was against my home nation for the sake of the host continent having some presence in the finals).

Anyway, it's similar to my previous game, Go Left. I figured out how to incoporate some of the elements unique to the 2010 games. But remember it is just 3k of BASIC. I'll wait to see if you like it before asking FIFA's approval.

I just revisited the game. Now I don't know if the rules are that obvious. Is it a little confusing? The idea was that you are entering the correct direction before your opponent does.

No issues here, the rules were obvious to me, but that might be due to playing Go Left etc. In general it IS fairly self explanatory with the arrow directions.

Nice work, Jeff.

The most amazing thing is the SPEED that you created this. I guess you have some experience with basic... :P

It makes me want to revisit some coding in basic. I have been developing an game in assembly and that has been a blast.

Congrats.

I just noticed I left NED out of the game. Did anyone even notice? So much for accuracy in the Finals.

Nice game!
I waited until after the World Cup final so I wouldn't spoil the result. Although the octopus spoiled it for me anyway.
I had a few shots on goal but all were blocked... am I doing something wrong?

No. Just luck. CPU controls goalkeeper, so it's random. You have no control if it goes in or not. Just like real FIFA! :lol

This is a good game. Amazing what you can do with 3.5k of ram.

Thanks! It's a really silly game, but I'm glad someone liked it.
