Sabre wulf on the vic... could it be possible?

Post by Ivanhoe76 »

Back in the days, when I was a young vic-kid, I've been wondering to play on my vic the speccy game Sabre Wulf from Ultimate, of which I loved the colourful graphics... Image
Considering that sinclair spectrum doesn't have hardware sprites like the vic, do you think it could be feasible a conversion of that game, even if I know that 32k of ram is much less than 48k of the spectrum and that the screen resolution is lower?

I have fond memories of Sabre Wulf and pretty much all the Ultimate games.

It did come out for the BBC @ 32k RAM, though I've no idea what screen mode/resolution it used.

Would be nice to see some more Ultimate games appear on the VIC.

The Vic does not have hardware sprites but maybe the new software engines could cope.

The green colour on the spectrum looks good not so drab as on the Vic.

Jet Pack was the only Ultimate Vic game wasn't it?

Another problem, secondary in my opinion, is that vic doesn't have each colour in two different brightness like the speccy... Anyway, I also think that new SS routine can surely cope!!!
P.S. : Talking about Ultimate games, we have to consider that Jet Pack for the vic, within its graphic resolution limitation, is far better than spectrum version, isn't it?

Yes Ian... Perils of Willy is a real masterpiece and even if it has much less level than Jet Set Willy it could be nearly considered a port of the speccy game!!!
