Post by Jeff-20 »

What is your favorite music track from any 8-bit game? I submit the ending theme from Super Mario Land.

I'd vote for the tune in The Last Ninja, Level 1. :)

It would have to be on the Vic's big brother (sister?). For me, I find it hard to choose between Wizball's title theme or Parallax. Galway is, indeed, God! :)

I'll boot up these games just to listen to their opening music:

1. Adventure Construction Set

2. Elite (there are two good MP3 files out there, too)

3. M.U.L.E. (and this MP3 re-mix)

I'm also a big fan of Dave Warhol. If you like Adventure Construction Set and M.U.L.E, you would probably love Robot Rascals.

Back in the Elder Days I loved the theme from Archon on the C64. The music in Shamus on the VIC was excellent in setting the mood for the game.

All my fovrite 8-bit tunes are on the VIC and the 64 for the simple reason that they're the only 8-bit systems I've played games on (apart from the Spectrum I bought a few years ago, but it doesn't really have any sound to speak of). Yep, you heard me right: to this day I have never used a NES, Gameboy, etc., other than in emulation a few times.

same here Bacon, my path was Vic->C 64->Amiga, I used to play the Megadrive/Genesis at my mates house but for some reason it took me until I had my own kids and the Gamecube to entertain Nintendo... weird.. anyway :

Classical fiends - I would like to know what this is called, I am assuming it is an improvisation of a classical piece.

And this mix of Spellbound gets 10/10 from me (the Rob Hubbard original can be heard here).

16 seconds long and in a continual loop and it never bothered me ! Spy vs Spy. Likin this remix.

This gentle tune from Way of the Exploding Fist seemed to make bashing someones face in a more delicate matter. Really nice remix here.

And finally. This is the game that made me sell my Vic and all the extras and get a C 64. Awesome tune !

Here are those other tunes in MP3 format:

Elite

Elite 2

VIC 20

Of course, it's not 8-bit generated, but I think they're still fun to listen to. Maybe carlsson wants to make a real VIC mix out of these? :D
