Do you use all F-keys for thrust, or just F1?

Initially F1 to get to the pad, then F3 to land. Then gravity gets too high, and it's F1 all the way. I wonder why there's an F5 thrust at all.
I also thrust sideways a bit at the start to get to the 10x earlier.
