Vic-20 Jiffy Dos

Post by Gary_Leeds »

I am wanting to install Jiffy dos on my vic. I bought some m2764 chips to blow the software onto but these are 28pin and the kernal on the vic is 24 pin. Does anyone know what chip I would need to get to blow the software onto or is there a way of wiring the 28 pin down to 24 pin?

Thanks

There probably are many ways to do the wiring. Here is one of the more advanced ones:

I think the only pin compatible EPROM is the Motorola 68764, which however far from all programmers recognize.

Read a bit more here:

Yes you can use 2764 just as I did. making an adapter is pretty easy if you can't source one easily. Wire it like shown here;

Browse through my pages for an idea on how I made mine if you like.

Over the last few years, every now and then, me and a bunch of people pooled together to make a large order of 2764-27512 to 2364 adapter boards.

The more we order, the lower the price.

It was funny in the last order to see the price of the boards drop on a daily basis as more and more people joined in.

Its been quite a while since the last batch so maybe when I come back home next may would be a good time to make another batch.

The last batch was around 300 boards.
Be normal.

They ended up around 2.25$ a piece.

In order for the adapter to be complete, a 28 pin socket and two rows of 12 pins header had to be soldered on.
