VIC20 VIPER - Please?

Post by Max Power »

Hello group. Maybe someone will empathize
with this nostalgic loss of old software...

I used to have VIPER, a game for the VIC20
written in basic. I first typed it in when I was
13 in 1983, from Compute's Gazzette Aug 83
issue. It has since been lost along with the
paper copy and I really want to play again.

The rom was available on the web last year,
but extensive searches cannot find it any more.
Does anyone have this - even just the text to
type in and save (with backups of course!)

Thank You!

I have tons of photocopies from back in the day. I will check through my files. I am sure I've heard of it before.

On ftp://oasiscomm.net/Gazette/1983/08aug/ you can at least find the article about Viper. It doesn't have the type-in listings, which maybe is due to copyright reasons. However, I believe you can contact the author and he'll scan the listings for you into JPEG images.

On this site, we can also find the Proofreader as discussed in the Basic compo thread, if someone likes to use it.

Thanks for the advice guys! I've gotten the
file from another source and it works great
in VICE, the commodore emulator.

Could someone please send the code for this game to me also? I miss this memory of my youth.

Thanks!
