German 256kb ram expansion details??? - Ebay today

Magazine hints at a 256kb ram pack

Anyone in Germany know about this or want to bid and get the details?

It is most probably a switched bank RAM expansion, where you can choose one of the 32 8K RAM areas to appear in BLK 1..3, or BLK 5.

Since there seems to be no EPROM, you must program it yourself, and you won't get 265727 BYTES FREE at startup ...

No 256k Card it is a 64k Card...

4* 64k card in a expansionsport = 256k

And in any case, you can't have more than ~32K switched in at the same time, using all four of BLK1-3 + 5 if the memory expansion allows. ISTR that most memory expansions only have a 8 or 16K memory window, in which it sounds like a giant penis extender (sorry!) to have four 64K expansion cards in the same system, making up to 16 banks of 16K RAM which isn't even battery backed up or static.

Honestly the only type of expansion I could imagine making use of that memory would be a dedicated file copying program, letting you read the contents from a floppy into RAM. With 64K RAM you only need three swaps for a full floppy, with 256K you could read it all in one go.

Heh. A while ago I found an auction on German eBay and contacted the seller asking if he would send to Sweden. To honor him, I used either of the translation tools to make the message in pseudo German. Although I don't know the language, I visually proofread it and reverse translated it to see that the meaning wasn't lost. In any case, the seller never replied to my question.

Perhaps he would've if I had written in English like I otherwise do.
