I googled a litte and that big calculating machine apparently is from the 1920's. Cool!

My thought exactly. I had to examine the picture more closely to convince myself that it wasn't a piece of fishing apparatus or a camera lens. It is such an interesting and aesthetically pleasing design. I would love to have one on my coffee table as a conversation piece and since it is a calculator, it might prove handy from time to time.DigitalQuirk wrote:Mike, that looks like it'd be more at home mounted on my fishing rod.
In the end it will be as if nothing ever happened.
I read that IBM infamously supplied mechanical computing devices to Germany before or during the second world war.
while I specifically do *NOT* want to see one of those, I'd be interested to see an equivalent machine that IBM was supplying at the time.
I'm guessing it was like a modified typewriter, that was designed to fit a standardised form, and had number counters that automatically clicked over. It may have had some 'adders' included as well..
I'm sure some US government departments used them??

No, I've never photographed it and posted such a photo to the Net. Hmm, maybe I should bring it to CommVEx where it would be photographed.Boray wrote:Cool! Do you have any pictures of it?
