Then what?? I have to save my prefs all over again? And every ten years I have to do the same? Good grief!  Well, considering that my vic is over 25 years old, I am willing to bet that my use of the cart will outlast the memory  (hopefully, my hardware will too!)

I think what he means when he says it will retain information for 10 years without battery or external power is that, given a regular dosage of current as it is being used now and then over a 10 year period, it would probably retain the information indefinitely.

I was considering use of serial eeprom (see hardware thread), for a variety of reasons.

Some of these devices have data rentention of spec of 100 years or 200 years with 10 million read/write cycles.

Interesting:
- who will be around in 100 years to warranty such a spec
- who has time to test 10 million read/write cycles

The character set looks much better on real hardware than in Vice!

The "Mega-Cart" logo looks pretty cool :D

I like idea of page to display publisher info. This is good so as it provides
credit to those who originally created/distributed these great carts.

It also helps with preserving info as part of Vic-20 history.

This categorization was quite a lot for work. Many thanks for NBLA000 for taking this on.

Having the categorization information is very helpful to allow user to pick
the filters that will show the games they want.

Overall game/utililty selection and navigation is extremely smooth :D

Way better than those Atarti 2600 multi-carts. :)

Is there a homepage or Wiki for this project?

I planned to do a project page -

http://www.6502dude.com/cbm/vic20/multicart/ (It is hopelessly out of date)

There are so many projects and so little time, that I have neglected web page updates.

If you care to wade thru a pile of mesages, check out hardware forum thread for Multicart and / or the All-In-One Cart thread.

About mid March 2007 I started prototype for my version of "multicart"

There is also a thread in Buy/Sell forum on "MegaCart".

Cool!

NBLA000 has done a fantastic job on menu and has come up with ideas I could never have envisioned.

I'm one of the core developers of the VICE emulator package, and I am interested in making multi-cart support once the hardware design is set.
