Oldorf's Revenge, Wizard 1

Post by avsars »

While skimming old adventure games and found Jack and the Beanstalk for VIC-20, I have realized that the Oldorfs Castle on Zimmers is actually Oldorf's Revenge, Wizard 1 by Highlands Computer Services released in 1980 for Apple II.

It was never released for VIC-20 officially, the version on Zimmers is probably a conversion by an adventure enthusiast, Alfred Poschmann. VIC-20 version contains only first part of the game until a bridge that leads to Oldorf's Castle, Snotgurgle's Palace and Land of Lynxnor. In the first part, you have to collect 50 gold coins to cross the bridge. I've compared the first part with Apple version, they are same. The remaining part or parts most probably are not converted or not released by Poschmann. Apple version is complete with all 4 parts.

The game requires 24K RAM expansion plus 3K Super Expander cartridge. The Zimmers version has a small bug, the game starts with zero strength. You can use this version instead:
