Targ

Post by Lechuck »

Hi,

just uploaded a 'new' game for the VIC-20 + 8K. It is a version of Exidy's Targ.

Image

Download it from here

There was already a version of this game for the VIC (it is called 'Torg'). But, with its movement at char level, I found it a bit frantic. So, I've tried to provide a 'smoother' version of the same game.

Game is using a screen of 27x27 so, as it happend with Crash, in NTSC VIC, last column is barely visible.

Cheers

Thanks for this.

It looks very faithful to the original and plays great. I hadn't seen this game before, or taken any notice of it at least. Seems these early games translate quite well to the Vic in your hands.

Another quality conversion from the LeChuck stable.

Thanks Beamrider!

To be honest, I don’t remember this game from the 80’s either (I don’t think it became very popular in Spain at that time). But saw a video in Youtube and thought it fit well in my capabilities so I decided to give it a try

Nice improvement over a good original idea (which I did meet back then in one of the infamous Italian pirated cassettes). Thanks for this, will play it on a real VIC tonight :)

Hi Mayhem,

No, I didn’t know the VIC version. I’ve been having a look and it looks great!. It is a very good port of Exidy’s Spectar

Thanks for the hint.

Wasn't aware of Spectar, I can see it's the sequel now. Interesting.

I've never Spectar before - looks quite good.

On a related side note: It's funny how game programmers of the era thought that an ascending/descending frequency-sweep was a cool sound effect. Seems something particularly prevalent on the Vic.
