7406 replacement

Post by mathop »

Hi. I recently got a CR VIC-20 (PAL) with a (suspected) broken 7406 chip. I guess I can replace this with a SN7406? Not sure what the difference is.

Cheers,

SN7406 is a 7406 manufactured by Texas Instruments. Should be equivalent. Who manufactured the one that's there now?

That's a Fairchild chip.

If you are interested in identifying the manufacturer of an IC, the site I link to below is very useful. I thought your IC was a Fairchild one, and that site confirmed it.

Great, thanks.
I stole a SN7406 off a spare C64 board, VIC-20 now loads from disk properly.
