My Vic-20 shows a strange problem:
when trying to load the directory from a floppy with:
load "$",8
The vic 20 will start searching for Pi.
It's the same with or without memory expansion.
What could be the problem?

Quite strange. My guess is either faulty low RAM or faulty ROM. Can you experiment with other commands? For example, what does
report? How about the SAVE command?
Code: Select all
LOAD"*",8

Maybe it's hungry? Seriously though, if you try the command several times, does it always display pi or other characters too?
Also remove the RAM expander and try again.

I have tried again with different memory cartridges but everything works fine at the moment.
Even after one hour playing I can't reproduce this strange error.
Maybe my Vic was just a little bit ill.

This happens when the RAM at the top of basic (where the basic programs end and the strings are stored) is broken (or when it is ROM not RAM as expected). On the C64 anyway - but i guess its the same on the VIC
