Three more games for the unexpanded VIC

Post by huffelduff »

Hello there all,

Here are three more new/old games for the unexpanded VIC PAL/NTSC:

Just Another Snake (JAS)
Musical Memory (Simon game clone) and
Yet Another Tank Battle (YATB)

My request is just that if you could test the software on physical hardware it would be much appreciated.

Greetings

Couldn't resist and tested them before going to sleep :)

Every game works well, as long as you NEW (after al LOAD"$",8) and use LOAD"name",8,1. I must say I'm impressed by the overall quality of these games: congratulations on these. Very addictive too. If it wasn't for the bad noise of my green monitor, which I can't hear but my 8 yo daughter is very afraid of ("daddy, it's making my ears bleed!"), they would have made for a great entertainment for young children too. Maybe except for the Poker game, of course.

Gridslalom is quite simple indeed, but impressive in its parallax scrolling in all directions (well, three out of four).

JAB (Just Another Breakout) is very playable and forgiving, I could almost finish the first screen without moving! Ball fluidity's not the best, but I guess you can't ask more in 3K RAM.

Sioux City Showdown is the ultimate shoot-the-cowboy game, spent most of the time trying to kill as many as possible. Once with a rooftop cowboy I couldn't find the right spot to aim at, but I guess it wasn't a bug, only me without reading glasses

Supa Vidya Poker is very good in graphics, especially small characters. Again, one can't imagine how you managed to cram it into a factory VIC.

Just Another Snake (JAS) is the good ol' snake, addictive and fun as always. I must mention good sounds too, in this game as well as the others.

Musical Memory (Simon game clone): who doesn't know Simon? I hated it back then, and the lack of colors doesn't help me to change my feelings :).

Yet Another Tank Battle (YATB) is perhaps the most accurate graphics wise, and I think you squeezed every drop of VIC's capabilities here.

Overall: KEEP ON DOING THEM :D

Hi Orion70 and kokkiklhs,

Thank you so much for testing the games.
I'm glad you got some enjoyment out of them.

At the moment I'm finishing up some more games.
I'm working on some bigger games as well.
But as you know, bigger games require much more effort and labor.
In the meantime I'd like to share screenshot of one of them. Its an unnamed Gauntlet clone. (Any naming ideas welcome)
I'm messing around with the look and feel and the general gameplay.

Anyway thanks again.

Greetings

I remember when I wanted to do a Gauntlet game I was going to call it Dauntless because it was going to be like the arcade on maximum difficulty setting for enemy ferocity.

Keep it up :)
