Vic chip 6561E

Post by Vicfrom82 »

Hi. This is my first question.
I have dug the vic 20 I had for Christmas in the early 80s out of the loft. It is a 2 pin power supply, made in W Germany model. I have opened it up to clean and fit heatsinks to the chips. I have noticed the vic chip is a grey and gold ceramic chip labelled 6561E0882. When looking online I can find black 6561E and 6561-101 chips, but no gold ones. This chip looks like images of C64 vic II chips. Is this vic 6561E a rare early chip?

I haven't seen one like that. I would be guessing that it was manufactured in August 1982, so it may be less common but not particularly early.
