Video sync issue

Got my Vic out for some fun and was going good for a couple of days. Was playing around with the colors and let it run for 30 or so minutes.

Then came back to the room and saw this, it goes blank for a several seconds and display the same screen, cycles over and over again. Ray Carlson's Am radio test gets good interference when turned on. No sound and no response using a game cartridge.I'm suspecting the Vic chip from Ray's description. Any suggestions or have you seen the same that would point to something specific?
