Hi there all,
Here are two new games for the 3k expanded VIC.
1. Bug Run (Frogger clone)
2. Gator Bait (Pacman clone)
Thanks to Shirleyknott for pointing out the bug in game of life when testing on physical hardware.
As usual testing on the real thing is the final test.
Greetings

Nice work on these! The undersea take on Pac-Man is nice, although it seems like there's got to be space for Pac-Man innovation on some level! I enjoy the names of the ghosts... er... octopuses? Oh! Freshwater jellyfish. I like their names!
Bug Run, I had some difficulty with. I mean, first off, I've always been terrible at Frogger. My timing's a mess, I suppose. But also, it didn't feel like the joystick was very responsive. And I know that I have a really responsive joystick. So I'd move it helplessly as an approaching truck game to crush my stationary bug. Maybe the joystick routine isn't getting called at the right time? Maybe I'm just destined to be hopeless at Frogger. But anyway, the title screen on this one is freaking amazing. The animation, the title font, the music, all of it freaking amazing.
Can't wait to see what's next, knowing you... probably next week.

Hi there Ian, yeah ok I'll enter them. I'll have to fix some of the code though.
See the comment below
I love Japanese gaming sensibilities. You know they'll name game characters quite normally:
John, Paul, Ringo and then suddenly: Zaibatsu-katana-goshi
Thank you so much for the feedback. I had become accustomed to the internal rhythm of the game and so later ignored my initial conclusion that it was sluggish.
I suspect you're quite right with the routine timing. I may also change the routine with some sort of buffering.
I'm going to look at it as soon as I get the opportunity and so update to follow.
I've got a game that's sort of in the home stretch but its resisting completion
Greetings

Great stuff Huffelduff,
I really like old arcade games and your versions are both excellent. Although I also found problems controlling Bug Run. Looking forward to next version...
Thanks

Hi there chysn and Lechuck,
I tried to improve the responsiveness by changing the internal timing and timers quite a bit.
I think I have improved it by about 10% or so.
When I just speed up the joystick check on its own the controls then become too sensitive (in my opinion)
There's therefore still a bit of lag, which makes me frown.
Greetings
