Cartridge Read: Mystery Eprom now dumped

Post by Vic20-Ian »

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Eprom-Card-for ... true&rt=nc

Hi,

I purchased this from Ebay, would anyone be able to help me read the Eprom?

I tried the cartridge and nothing comes up on boot but I am curious if there is something on the chip to preserve.

Thanks.
Ian

Congrats, I was tempted to go for this but resisted. I think it's worth trying to recover the contents, I believe it's a 40 column utility which would be interesting to see.

It looks like the PCB is wired to use BLK5 but as the EPROM is a 4K device it might be mapped into $A000-AFFF or $B000-BFFF. Mike has a neat trick using SYS that can save a memory region, I'll see if I can find it.

Both low bytes should be 0, start high 160, end high 192.

I came across a barrier I had set myself - I had lent my video cable to someone and no longer have a modulator. I have this back now so will try at the weekend.

If you pm me your email address I will send you the resulting file.

This eprom cartridge has now been dumped thanks to Simon's help and Mike's code.

I can now start it in Vice - sort of.

PM an email if you want a copy.

Simon has got this cartridge running but we don't know what it is yet.

SYS40960 displays a table on the screen

DISPLAY :000
COLOUR :000
DIS-ROW :000
DIS-COL :000
LEFT-MG :012
TOP-MRG :038
BASIC :016
RAMTOP :000

Pressing enter reduces ram to 3071 bytes free.

Does anyone recognise this utility cartridge?

Does anyone have a manual?

I think it may well be the Solidisk 40 column utility as the board is STL (Solidisk Technology Limited) and the advert above lists a 40 Column rom and a Programmers Toolkit rom. This eprom is labelled 40c.

Interestingly, Solidisk are still going: http://solidisk.com/
