Any way to access Usenet from VIC-20?

Post by ral-clan »

Does anyone know of a service whereby I can access the Usenet via a VIC-20 and my wifi modem?
I think it would be fun to browse comp.sys.cbm using actual Commodore 8-bit hardware.

There are several free Usenet systems (eternal-september.org is the one I use), but the bigger problem is having a Usenet client. You can certainly connect to port 119 from your VIC, but you'll need to figure out how to tell the server who you are and what you want to do.

Probably easiest is to find a BBS that has Usenet access. I don't know of one offhand, though.
