My jaw dropped (in a good way) when I saw that a teacher in the UK had a functioning VIC-20 lab he used to teach students programming and problem solving concepts:

Yes, it's cool how he managed to get 10 kids interested in computer programming with good old BASIC.
If I got Michael Tomzyk's Youtube interview for Sceneworld correctly, the VIC 20 guides and listings were written by very young employees.
They probably had their teen years fresh enough to produce readings suitable for us teenagers.

Now I'm watching oldcomputr website and "Introduction to BASIC" was written by some Andrew Colin in his 40s at the time. Anyway, a good way to learn CBM BASIC.
