Wunda Walter - Interceptor Micros 1984 - [+16K] - better dump

Post by oracle_jedi »

I remember this game being reviewed, I think it was in Your Computer magazine, and it was probably one of the last times that magazine reviewed VIC20 games.

I never owned this one BITD, I had already moved on, but it looked interesting from the screen shots.

There was a PRG dump of this a while back, but on my machine it lacks the score field and the scrolling text of the game, so I dumped the TAP to disk and managed to preserve the game's score fields and scrolling messages.

It's a fun game. Sort of like Flappy Bird only 25 years before that became popular.

Enjoy.

Thanks! I remember me playing a pirated version of ww back in the eighties, and being impressed by the character animation. Very well done!

Yes, the review was in Your Computer magazine. I was so impressed by the screenshots that I went out and bought it (my local radio store in Sweden had it in stock!). A little bit smoother overall and it would have been a masterpiece, but still a very nicely done game with lots of attention to detail and lovely cartoony graphics, which was unusual for the Vic.

Great to be able to play it on an emulator too - thanks!

Hey guys, I added an update - the code is now fixed to detect and adapt to NTSC systems.

Damn, another bug, so another update.

In my zeal to optimize the BASIC loader I skipped over the "load from the last drive" part, so if you were not on drive 8, it just hung.

Fixed now, so hopefully no more updates on this one.

Good work! But also take a look at the main program from $3B00: there are obviously hidden messages from the author (?) ...

this one was my favorites (it was published in Italy under a different name: "Hunga Munga") and I was looking for a disk version since months.
Thanks a lot!

Yes I remember this name too from somewhere, nice game back then, but jerky scrolling, feeled today.
I probably mean it, because spoiled by the good vic games that have been published in recent years, with clean scrolling... and the end is not reached yet
