Nice PCB, but what's the point?

there are at least two more boards available, btw ...

https://github.com/bwack/KU-14194HB-RevB-KiCad (weird idea to clone this board) -> https://twitter.com/hashtag/c64plus?src=hash
https://github.com/boelle/326298-Rev-A-Kicad

no idea what improvements are planned for those (as you said, asking usually just leads into tons of useless ideas, so they dont even ask, or tell) - and afaik both are still in "lets first build an unmodified one and verify it works" stage.

i probably wouldnt change much, using SRAM seems to be the most interesting improvement (ie eliminate the VSP problem). perhaps add a reset button and some clamping diodes to joystick ports. other than that... works for me :)

Last year I designed my first 8-bit 65C02 computer and had the boards made. It has a 65C22 onboard and four expansion slots with a similar scheme to the Apple II.

Why? Like you...because I wanted to. :-)

So I totally get it. I say go for it and keep us posted.

Great work!

Well, I don't know how much I can personally provide. As much as I know about the C64, I'm at a loss on the motherboard design (although, I'm learning more about it).

One thing I did on my SBC was label overkill. Since I have four slots, I put a nice label next to each pin so that I never had to look anything up. I also labeled each IC and their pins. My board was more for development and training so lots of labels really benefit it. A production/consumer board may not need that much. But I still like lots of labels to tell me what things do on the board.

Anyway, just my $0.02.
