VCX-1001 - Interesting Item

Post by ka20 »

Here is an interesting item I picked up recently from Japan: The VCX-1001. I don't know Japanese, but from the bits of English text on the instruction page, it looks like a cassette adapter for the VIC-1001 and PET/CBM. You will notice it was made by HAL Laboratory, the same company that made a lot of the early VIC, C64, and Max Machine cartridge games that were released by Commodore.

Never seen that one before! Is the program to test the signal strength?

I had a friend with a TRS-80, which used a standard tape recorder, and I remember him telling me that he had to set the volume exactly right in order for it to work - not too high and not too low. I laughed and said the datasette on my Vic just “works”. I suspect that is what this program is for.
