Favorite magazine type-in

Post by ravenxau »

Recently I have been playing Bonking Barrels and Demon Star. I was wondering what other magazine type-in people have fond memories of?

My favourite game I ever typed in from a magazine was Space X, written by some Richard Clark. It appeared in September 1984 and it was the only issue of Commodore Horizon magazine I ever got, because my sister went to UK for an english as foreign language summer course.
It's for an unexpanded vic and I loved the graphics.

It mixes basic and ML and has a nice sideways scroll.

If I had to pick one game of my own "Unexpanded type-in Collection", ...

... I'd probably take "TRONN" as it was the first game I typed in from a magazine.

But each one of these 21 games has a story, which I put into the READ ME.

A game where you had to shoot a glass of beer falling off a bar top. The ASCII graphics were perfect.

Or maybe it was a snake game called 'Hissing Sid'. Great sounds, quick action.

I also loved type-ins in a book by Compute! - which I still have. A couple of years ago my daughter typed in 'Hidden Maze' and seemed to enjoy the experience.

Mine fave was "Frog Run".

Can't remember which mag it was from (PCG?), but it was a very decent Frogger clone. Better than a lot of commercial games at the time.
