** SPOILER ALERT **
I generally like his restoration videos. I also admit that this particular VIC-20 appeared to be in a catastrophic condition.
However, he is leaving some pretty bad (IMHO) corrosion on the inside of the case. Leaving it there because "no one will see it". That directly contradicts his other videos where he says he will go the extra mile and clean every single spot).
I think he bit off more than he can chew for a VIC-20 on this episode. I get it...spending HOURS and HOURS on something you probably already have several of isn't the most satisfying way to pass your time.
But if it were me...I would take a Dremel or something to that inside to remove the corrosion. I would rather see scuffed up plastic on the inside than that brown crap left behind.
At some point, however, you have to make the decision of "is it worth it?".

If it had been me I would have saved the chips and keys, but the rest I don't know. You always can learn a thing or two when you watch him restore, but sometimes I cringe at the mistakes. (not that I never make any)

Re: Bad VIC-20 by 8 bit guy
I've made some mistakes myself.
One of the biggest mistakes I made....and I'm almost embarrassed to admit it....was that years ago I needed to run a network cable in my house. So I get out the big drill bit and start putting a hole in the wall. I *thought* I knew where the other side was coming out. Well, it just so happens that I had an Atari ST on the floor (don't ask me why...I was moving stuff)...you can tell where this is going.
The drill bit went right into the Atari ST. Board is OK but it cracked the back of the case something awful. IDIOT!!! Is what I said to myself.
Now I keep it as a reminder to how stupid I can sometimes be. LOL
