Amiga 1000 keyboard

Post by Kakemoms »

I just bought an Amiga 1000 without keyboard. The keyboards seems to be hard to come by for some reason so I am just wondering if anyone here had an original A1000 keyboard laying around that they don't need. Even something with a few keys missing would be ok.

Ok, still looking for one as the A1000 seller sent an A3000 keyboard. As she said "it looks like I found an Amiga keyboard" but could not tell me which one it was..

So I have an A3000 keyboard for sale as well..

I need all the keys, so unless its only one or two missing its too expensive to fix it. How many keys are missing?

A1000 keyboards are uncommon these days...

Commodore had a marketing campaign in the late 80's or early 90's where you could send in your A1000 keyboard and get a discount off of a new A2000, so there were several A1000's out there missing the keyboard over the years. I was told that they did it just to get a lot of A1000's out of commission because those were the only Amigas that didn't have Commodore's name on them. This may just be rumor, but who knows... it may be that they just wanted to sell more A2000's.

Aftermarket vendors started producing adapters that allowed the use of an A2000 keyboard on an A1000, which was really smart because at one point, you could get a 512K A1000 w/o keyboard, mouse or monitor for as little as $50 USD and they were still good machines. Perhaps you can locate one of those adapters...(?)

Best of luck in your quest!

Sorry for the delay, are you still looking for a keyboard? I'm at work now and not sure which key is missing :)
