C64 .TAP file writer

Post by pixel »

Thanks for the idea to use a C64 to make tapes. Here's how far I got with it. This writer seems to nail it down to two cycles – but for whatever reason the last 12 bits aren't written. Sure to be fixed soon but maybe some interesting Sunday read anyway already. Oh – it requires a GEORAM extension.

First, it reads a TAP file called "MASTER" into the RAM extension and then starts recording right away. The pulse lengths are translated to match a PAL VIC. Recording PWM audio will need some speed code. Am not sure if it can be done at all.

I was going to jump on this program... I have so many old programs to to salvage. Including Gortek and the Microchips.

Then I found this!!

Oh NO!!

I have a 1541 Ultimate and this provides a Commodore REU which is totally incompatible.

IMHO, I don't know anybody who has a GeoRAM - Your program is unuseable!
Be normal.

Well, *shudder*, it's discontinued anyway, I'm afraid. Recording with a tape deck works now.
