MOS vs Synertek 6504

Post by Kakemoms »

Hi

While reviving an old 4040 disk drive for my Vic-20 I have tracked the remaining error to the 6504. Later versions of the dual disk drive contains two 6502, but this one has one 6502 and the 6504 with less pins.

On ebay I can get a Chinese sourced 6504 or a German sourced 6504, the latter being a Synertek. The question is whether these ICs are compatible?

I would assume they would work but chinese chips could be fakes, you never know. Check out the link for related chips: http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/650x/MOS% ... 06504.html

I assume they do. To be certain I am going to order both. The Rockwell IC I suspect may have some differences with the IRQ (as for the 6502).
