Test Scan of Vic Computing Issue 1.3

Post by Pedro Lambrini »

So after many a year and a lot of searching around I've finally got my hands on some issues of Vic Computing.

Unfortunately, I don't have the first 2 issues but I'll keep looking!

I have a pretty bad Epson AIO printer and I've used that to scan in my earliest issue (1.3). Without further ado here it is:

The quality isn't the greatest but I was wondering if it was good enough to at least have some kind of archived version.

Any comments (or pro tips) welcome. :)

Superb: thank you very much and please keep them coming. Hopefully, somebody out there has the first two issues.

So, everybody's happy with the quality of the scan itself. If so, I can scan in another at the weekend.

I don't have every issue but maybe if I scan in the ones I have it'll encourage someone else to step forward with the missing issues... or maybe even sell me them! :)

I have issue 1.1 which arrived in a box of stuff from my parents house. I will happily scan it with my "ok" scanner. Can anyone recommend tips for converting the scans to a PDF?

Thanks Crock, it would be great if you could. After scanning the single pages, you can batch resize / compress them, saving as single JPGs (e.g. with a batch process plugin for the GIMP, or Adobe Photoshop). Then, simply print them to a PDF file with the default XP image viewer, using for example PDF Creator.

Here you go.

I also uploaded it to bombjack.org so it should soon appear there as well.

I used to have every issue and enjoyed reading and re-reading the articles. It's how I learnt to program, by typing in the reader submitted software. I still have the programs I typed in from these mags somewhere about the place. Lack of loft space dictated that something had to go and the wife decided that it would be all my old computer magazines!

Vic Computing - Commodore User - Your Commodore - Commodore Format - Commodore Horizons, all complete collections went to the recycle point at our local supermarket car park. I regretted throwing them away after the very first minute.

Thank heavens for DLH's bombjack.org.

Only Vic Computing is missing from this list. Only issues 1.1 and 1.3 are about at the moment so please make an old vicman happy and get the others available soon.

Much appreciated....
