Video-Snaps for EmuMovies
Hi all,
in February i've started making Video-Clips from VIC20 Games.
Well, in April i decided to join the community "EmuMovies".
Now, i've recaptured all videos in "EmuMovie-quality".
Up to now i've captured the Games # - H (about 500 videos)
Very much VIC20 Games do not use the "Full Video-Screen"....
There is often a "dead-frame"...
You know what i mean !? (german word is "Rahmen".....don't know how to say it in english)
The videos i've captured are in 640x480.
I use the aspect ratio setting of 0.809 in VICE to have a good looking screen...
Well, now i have a problem :
I've allways stretched the videos to "kill" the "dead-frame" on the left and right side....to have a larger "action-screen" in the videos.....
But now, i'm not sure if this is the best look....
What do you mean ?
should i cropp the dead-frame in the clips (larger action-screen) or
should i capture the games with the dead-frame (more authentic)
I've already made this poll in a german commodore board. But i need your opinon.
On the German board i've posted 3 videos.
look here :
left : video with "dead-frame"
middle : without "dead-frame"
right : original VIC20 on TV
which is your favorite solution ?

I voted "doesn't matter", but I actually mean "decide for each recording". The border colour is an ever-present part of the VIC20 experience. It can set the mood of a game, or sometimes the border is used to express something, like flashing it upon player death.
But it can also just be left at default and have no relation to the game, so then I'd say, zoom in to the main screen.

I would like to see some border, but not the whole border. And as most games use different border sizes I think it would be best to decide the size for every game separately.
