potential cache of vic stuff..

Post by gnomencandle »

I was somewhere today (>>) talking to somebody (<<) and they said that 5 years ago they obtained a large cache of old vic20's in boxes and other retro games including magazines from a collector... I'm hopefully going to be picking these up later this week, although price has not been discussed.. he did say cheap! (He just wants to make some room in his basement).

I'll post pictures and a run down once I get them. ;)

I'm in Ottawa. The person was very busy this weekend and did not get a chance to look at the stuff in his basement.. so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'd like to think that once you get VICtimized, you never get unVICtimized

First bunch of stuff..

Post by gnomencandle »

OKay I got an initial pick up of stuff.

I had also told him that I collect Board games, so he had a bunch of those as well with the lot of stuff.

There is more Vic 20 stuff but he said it is in other locations in the basement, so he sold me what he had found up to that point.

The list is not long, but there was a Vic 20 in a box. (The box is in great condition (with the only dammage being near the top left flap of the opening.)

S/n P874672 matches the Vic inside.
Model No. Vic 20 rev
Made in U.S.A.
Keyboard cover that has never been used (and has no tears on the corners)

Ads/paper mterial inside:
HOW TO GET MORE OUT OF YOUR COMMODORE COMPUTER
(I got a kick that it was all in CAPS! lol)
On the other side it talks about the paperless magazine.. you call in with a vic modem to the COMMODORE INFORMATION NETWORK (essentially was on the CompuServe network)

An unused Warranty Registration card..

There was a pamphlet that almost made me cry when I see it..
Title on front: "A REAL COMPUTER FOR THE PRICE OF A TOY."

Opening it up, the pamphlet unfolds into 6 sections:
Bally Midway series
Video Arcade Series
Education Series
Adventure and Strategy Series
Programming Aids
Tape Software

Title on back: "ONLY A REAL COMPUTER CAN OFFER YOU THESE OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH." 1982

And a Product price list woth shipping specifications (no prices anywhere though, but mininum quantities of each item type are listed with the weights and measurements of the packages) looks like it was for a store.

There is the styrofoam that goes around the Vic 20 and the hard cardboard box inside.. but missing the power supply, RF modulator. cables and TV Switch

I have everything from a previous vic 20 purchase, but still do not have a TV Switch! So I cannot test it out or the other one that I have..

There was a boxed 1351 that looks like it was never used (the bottom parts are still glossy) The box is super clean and white, with a little tape going across the opening)
The other mouse is also boxed but well used...

Both made in Japan.

And that is it so far.. Like I said.. He is going to be emailing me once he finds the rest of the stuff, but I think it was a good start so far.. and I guess I need the tv switch still.. I had found a switch box of somekind for old video games boxes from the 80's at a local Value Village, but I brought it home and it would not power on.. figures.. my search continues..
