More backups and games

Post by fgasking »

Hi there, recently picked up a Vic 20 and some games - so I did some backups and inlay scans for GB20, and thought i'd share them incase people would like anything.

The last archive may be of particular interest, as they were a series of C15's which had type ins and bits. I think most games are from the common Personal Computer News book, but some might not. Anyway, enjoy :)

English Invaders (TAP + Scans) -- http://www.river.kent.sch.uk/extras/english.rar

Math Hurdler and Monster Maze (TAP + Scans)

Meter Mania (TAP + Scans)

Vic tapes (Around 16 TAP images = 8 C15/C20 tapes with various bits on)

I'm happy to in future if the .rar files are causing people problems. I normally pick .rar, as the compression results are occasionally (or used to be) better, and they generally well supported in most tools these days. Let me know if you'd prefer those links as zips, and i'll re-upload.

Zip support is built into Windows by default while rar isn't. (WinRAR isn't even free. I installed the trial version once but removed it again). So I think more people will download zip...

Geez! Wunda Walter! I didn't remember that.

Mini-review:
The loading and intro screens are just wonderful, plus it has loading lines in the border. The game features colourful and well-designed graphics, and great music.
The cons: in-game scrolling is not so smooth, and it requires good reflexes and arcade skills that I don't have  , so to me it's a bit frustrating. The tape counter says 98 until the game is loaded, so it takes some time even in XVIC warp mode.
Overall, I'd say it's a highly professional product. IMO, it looks a lot like later Speccy games.

I'm honestly surprised that quite a few of you have never played Wunda Walter before  , but happy to highlight it! :) ... I discovered the game many years ago (inlay badly damp damaged, hence getting this new copy), and was amazed by it.

Certainly one of the best commercial games i've ever seen and played on the Vic 20 from that era.
