**Commodore Mags posted as torrents! UPDATE March 31st, 2011

Post by Vic-torrent »

Greetings,

Listed below are torrents to various Commodore magazine issues I have found on the internet!

After downloading, if you have some bandwidth available you can allocate, even if it is just a small amount, please help the Commodore community to seed so these treasures can remain available for everyone.

Most torrent programs can be setup to trickle out bandwidth, so you don't notice any system performance difference.

Do you have any missing Commodore magazine issues or Commodore books you would like to donate so they can be rescued forever? Please contact DLH @ http://www.bombjack.org/commodore/

If you need a torrent program that is simple to use, free, with no spam/malware, one of the best is: http://www.utorrent.com

The best thing I like about the German magazine 64er is that all the software that was listed, also was available on floppy and much better, on CDROM nowadays. How about the software listed in these magazines, is that available as well in one or another way?

Someone could tell which ones were devoted (also) to the VIC-20? I would like to download only those with content related to our beloved machine... Except for Microadventurer, of course.

Thank you.

The Compute! mags (certainly the early ones) contain a fair bit on the Vic. As for the others, I have dl'd quite a few but don't have them to hand to guarantee which ones have Vic content. Though there is plenty of reading in the Compute! issues... :)

Vic Computing Magazines

Post by gungahlin »

I have some original Volume 1 and Volume 2 editions of the UK "Vic Computing" before they became "Commodore User" (vintage 1982-83)

Are these already available already somewhere on the net?

No! I have been patiently waiting for these to appear but it's never happened (yet!). Do you intend to scan and upload them, at all?

It appears that someone has already scanned them in...

Look what I found on eBay Australia...

Looks like there is no need to sit down and scan the material.

Alas... when I asked:

Dear fpap1

During the first two years the magazine went under the name of Vic
Computing. Launched in September 1981 by the Paradox Group

Does this also include the original Vic Computing as below before the
magazine became Commodore User in 1983

See below:

Vic Computing:
October 1981 Vol. 1 Issue 1
December 1981 Vol. 1 Issue 2
February 1982 Vol. 1 Issue 3
April 1982 Vol. 1 Issue 4
June 1982 Vol. 1 Issue 5
August 1982 Vol. 1 Issue 6
October 1982 Vol. 2 Issue 1
December 1982 Vol. 2 Issue 2
February 1983 Vol. 2 Issue 3
April 1983 Vol. 2 Issue 4
June 1983 Vol. 2 Issue 5
August 1983 Vol. 2 Issue 6

Commodore User
October 1983 Vol. 1 Issue 1
etc...

Thanks

- gungahlin

the following answer came back:

Dear gungahlin

Hi
Thanks for the email. No, it doesn't include Vic Computing.
Regards
FCN

Which issues do you have? I own nine of them, still missing three. Can't remember which ones offhand, but if you list what you own, I can say if I don't have any of them. I'd be interested to purchase the ones I don't have, or swap them for some of the spares I own. I do plan to try scanning them, although I was tempted not to start until I owned all twelve issues...

I have the following:

*
*
February 1982 Vol. 1 Issue 3
April 1982 Vol. 1 Issue 4
June 1982 Vol. 1 Issue 5
August 1982 Vol. 1 Issue 6
October 1982 Vol. 2 Issue 1
December 1982 Vol. 2 Issue 2
February 1983 Vol. 2 Issue 3
April 1983 Vol. 2 Issue 4
June 1983 Vol. 2 Issue 5
August 1983 Vol. 2 Issue 6

Condition is fair, were much cherished and read source of information at the time and spent the last 20 odd years in the garage and thus slightly yellowed and dusty.
I am missing the first two editions - marked *
Do you have those two?

Sorry not selling, will eventually get around to scanning (and sharing)

I'm now starting to wonder if I have ten issues instead. I'm really gonna have to dig them out and find out heh. I have the very first issue (it's very thin!) but I defo don't have the second issue, so we've still not got a full set between us! I think I'm missing one in the second volume, I'm tempted to say the very last issue (#12).

Feel free to scan all the issues you own. I can add scans of issue #1 to the pile and then we can hopefully locate issue #2 down the line...

VIC Computing - Volume 1 Issue 3

Post by gungahlin »

http://www.scribd.com/doc/19795312/VIC- ... -1-Issue-3

This was a test and won't be up for long.
I think I'll have to remove the staples to scan it properly.
Pity I don't have access to an A3 scanner, it would make life easier.
