Alien Blitz : Publisher ?

Post by Vicman *1970 »

Hi all,
i'm a little confused.... :?

Who is the publisher for Alien Blitz ?
- Gamebase 2.0 says it's UMI
- The ingame-title-Screen says Tensor Technology
- Retrocollector.org says Audiogenic
(look at the tape-scan : copyright 1981 UMI.......
.....Manufactured and distributed by Audiogenic

So, what is right ?
Are there 2 versions available (Tensor & UMI/Audiogenic) ?
or is Tensor the Developer, UMI the publisher, and Audiogenic has "made" the Tapes ?

The version that my friend used to have was Audiogenic.

Always thought it was better than Avenger.

Gamebase 0.2 (emphasis mine) didn't make the distinction between releases, but I've separated all of them out into multiple entries for 0.3 coming up. Alien Blitz was written by Tensor Technology, which consisted of Peter Fokos and Thomas Giguere. Originally it was published in the US by UMI on cartridge and tape I believe (although I'm not sure I've seen a tape version). Audiogenic licensed many UMI games for release in the UK, and this was one of them. So yes, there are two releases, the US one came first unsurprisingly.

There are some examples of UK games being licensed to the US though, and those are also linked together. If you note the "related game" icon in Gamebase, you can click between the associated releases.

o.k. , thanks Mayhem

So, your versions on Gamebase v0.2 :
- Cartridge : publisher UMI
- Tape : publisher Audiogenic
- "*.prg - version" :was it taken (made/ripped) from the tape or from cartridge ?

The PRG is from the (PAL) tape, because it isn't centred on screen if you load it in NTSC mode. If you check the "version" tab then sometimes you might see only PAL or NTSC there (instead of PAL+NTSC), which means I've discovered that it only works on one of the standards.

Thanks, Mayhem

btw.
is it possible, that you send me your games, that are not in Gamebase v0.2 ?
'cause i'm working on the TOSEC-Dat's for the vic20.
I want to add all missing games on TOSEC, and also correct the DAT-Entries.

The TOSEC-Dat's are really much incomplete / out of date at the moment, and i have the time for updating

So, would you upload your stuff to Megaupload or so ?

I wouldn't be able to start knowing all the entries and things I've added since v0.2 that have gone into v0.3. There's quite a bit added! And not just all the German magazine listings. Some games have also been replaced with better versions too.

Anyhow, I'm planning a pre-Xmas release for v0.3 so I've really just got to figure out a cut-off point, and start preparing the archives...
