Just a general question. I've been looking to download the Gamebase Vic 20, but it doesn't seem to have a permanent home. Is this right? If so can we give it a permanent home/host, rather than these fileshare/torrent sites?

Sorry I've been on the site for some time, but looks like this is my first post :)

Gamebase20 is now well over 2,000 entries in total, bolstered mostly by all the German magazine type-ins and discovering a fistful of missing Compute listings. There's still much more out there, I discovered two new commercial games just this week and am negotiating to obtain them from the owner. I reckon 2,500 is easily possible, probably 3,000 overall given enough time.

What about another release, I hear some of your cry. Well, given v0.2 came out at the end of 2009, then the plan is to release something by the end of this year... so v0.3 approaches shortly ;)

Let's hope the VICE team can repair the VIC paddle regression introduced in 2.3.x development branch... glad you reported the bug, too. It would be nice to see your Gamebase coupled with a VICE 2.4 release.

I only discovered the issue while going through this batch of CUON disks and finding a couple of games that supported paddles, so I decided to try them out. Cue finding nothing moved. Tried them in 2.2 and they worked, so deduced something happened in the move in 2.3.

I did have a quick scan through the bug lists before adding that report, didn't realise you had already submitted it. So yeah, things haven't been so great in the last two releases; 2.2 nuked cartridge loading, and 2.3 somehow borked the paddle support. Hopefully 2.4 will have nothing obviously at fault ;)

Cheers... I am planning v0.3 of GB20 before the end of the year (fingers crossed), so might benefit waiting until that is out, but if you have more credits for Your Computer, I'll take them as I don't have many here.

Cheers for that... the program is only half complete in GB20, probably cut due to trying to fit it into unexpanded memory. I'll have to type out the missing parts to make it complete for +3k RAM.

As it turns out, the bit cut was the introduction graphics screen and the instructions. Not vital, but still, nice to have it 100% for the archive. Should be present and correct now, after bug hunting the title page for the correct graphics characters, and noting the READ loop was two bytes short...
