I don't think anyone will be buying this VIC...

Seriously Ebay never ceases to amaze me!

The following has been listed for a VIC 20 on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Commodore-VIC-2 ... 6016.l4276

Honestly, I would be embarrassed to sell anything in that condition...

It would have to undergo a major clean first...

BTW: for worldwide shipping which shows up on my screen, it states $850.00 Canadian Dollars

"Shows signs of normal use w/ some scuffs / scratches / blemishes / sticker residue. "

Looks like it was found buried in a field.

If you take a closer look to the dirt on it, you'll see it was positively "refurbished" before being put up for sale! Which worsen the scenario, IMO. :D

The time when eBay was the Mecca of good deals is long time gone IMO. Ten years ago you could be relatively confident that what you were buying was pretty much all right, and the bid sale was also a guarantee, at least in most cases, that the final price would be a correct international market price. Today, I mostly see obviously dead electronics described as "without cable, so couldn't test" or "I don't own a TV so this is sold as is" etc. Classified in expensive "buy it now" sales, of course.

That was pretty ugly but not the worst I've seen.

I just got a IIc today that is about that bad (even worse if you count the monitor and printer that I now have to clean).

Yeah, eBay is total crap these days. Unfortunately, its about the only place I can buy vintage computers. Most of my collection started when eBay was just a few years old. Those were some great deals.
