1541 drives and joysticks.

Post by pixel »

Yep, I got two dozens of C64s, also a stack of 1541 drives, nice joysticks as well as some Atari STs and Amigas. Need to part with them till yesterday, I'm afraid. Prepare for good deals via PMing me.

I stored this huge pile of stuff someplace I currently don't have direct access to, but be assured they look as bad as 35yo hardware can get. Just pass me your address, I'll wrap it up and it'll be on its way, my friend. Donation via PayPal would be admired.

Location is Berlin, Germany.

Well, now there's that direct access and I tried out four 1541s and four 1541-IIs with my VIC which, to my surprise, resulted in only two 1541–IIs working. In one of the 1541s some big, fat electrolyte capacitor got bombed off, judging from the bang it made when switched on ages ago. They rest kinda starts up but doesn't communicate. AFAIK some drives that didn't work with the VIC worked with my C64. Of course I'm not interested in the C64 ;), so I didn't set it up. This is a VIC forum after all. OK, I'll stop kidding. But such drives don't seem to be a favourable deal, do they? Let's forget this. I'm having a headache.

One might strongly disagree with my plan to rip out and sell working chips out of everything that's kinda dead. In the end that could help fix some other equipment which is beyond of what I can achieve myself. I mean, if you want tickling nerves and goose bumps: pass me a soldering iron and run!

Joysticks are still a VIC–related option? Anyone?
