Lack of audio tape deck for my part. I like your idea pixel!pixel wrote:Degradation of the Nipkow player sound quality with the 48kHz maximum sampling rate of my sound card.Mike wrote:What's wrong with using a tool like TAPWAV and then mastering the tapes with PC/soundcard/tapedeck?
PRG Starter - a VICE helper / Vic Software (Boray Gammon, SD2IEC music player, Vic Disk Menu, Tribbles, Mega Omega, How Many 8K etc.)

Properly done, 48kHz shouldn't limit anything at all. There's absolutely nothing above 24kHz in bandwidth of the tape system anyway.pixel wrote:Degradation of the Nipkow player sound quality with the 48kHz maximum sampling rate of my sound card.Mike wrote:What's wrong with using a tool like TAPWAV and then mastering the tapes with PC/soundcard/tapedeck?

Re: SJLOAD-20 source code anybody?
To get around having to master on the Vic-20 I wrote my mastering tool on the c64 instead. Stuck the the pal/ntsc game code and loader as an incbin and wrote a quick front end. That way when Cronosoft were producing tapes they could load one program up, hit SPACE and record a full copy to tape whenever they wanted. No worrying about memory or anything.
Same with transfering Vic things from tape to disk, there are oodles of tools to do it on c64 so I just use those.

I'd need at least +2MB RAM for that.

I'll go for the audio tape recording thing before 20 people want my nuts for Christmas decoration.beamrider wrote:How about a mansoft princess (assuming you can beg/borrow/steal one)?
