Postings about 'Emulation and Cross-Development'

Post by Mike »

Hi!

In the recent time, there have been quite a number of postings, which better belong into the section 'Emulation and Cross-Development'. To quote from my sticky introduction post there:
Mike wrote:This section is about emulators and cross-development for the VIC-20:

That means,

- usage of emulators like VICE, and MESS,
- cross-development with tools like DASM, cc65,
- handling of data transfer to/from an emulator or a real VIC.

In short, this is the right place for discussions, as long as at least one program
*not* running on a VIC-20, or data not originating on the VIC are involved.

The Programming, and Games section should focus on the development, and
discussion of algorithms, programs, and games that actually run on the VIC-20.
Emphasis added by me.

Could one of the mods please move the following threads to there? And maybe make this post here sticky? Thanks.

GenCartVic/cc65
Moving PC-compiled programs to VIC-20?
Editors for Vic Screens and User Defined Characters
CBM Prg Studio
Quetzalcoatl?
PNGtoUDG
BYTE assembler directive
ca65 problems
Tiny Basic Compiler

Greetings,

Michael

Why don't you make Mike a moderator?

I actively resigned from moderator status some time ago, in spring last year, and prefer to keep it that way.

But you always want to move threads around. Why don't you want to do it yourself instead of posting about it?

Put the other way round: why didn't you already move the thread in question (as of yet), instead starting a discussion to promote me as moderator, which I wouldn't want?

I had my reasons to resign at that time, and these reasons have not changed. With moderators just doing their job, open requests just as mine wouldn't show up as much.

The section 'Emulation & Cross-Development' had been initiated from a poll I posted, when I noticed that postings about VICE, cc65, tape <-> PC, etc. began to clutter up the then existing Games, Programming and Hardware sections. At this time, such postings could only sensibly be put into the General section. The new section was intended to gather all topics under the premise I stated in the sticky introductory post (quoted here in the OP of this thread).

It might happen though, that people simply don't get the point, when their threads are just moved, but no moderation message is added. With the poster of the current case in question, it was his third wrong categorization in a row, and that's why I added an explanatory comment. Can we leave it at that, please?

Because it seems to me like you are going over the river to bring water. This is not the first time you want something moved. It would be easier for everyone if you just did it yourself. That's why. I will not bring it up again.
