Denial WIKI change / addition announcement thread.

The purpose of this thread is to announce additions or changes to the Denial WIKI, located here:

http://sleepingelephant.com/denial/wiki ... lWIKI_Home

Please describe changes or additions you have made and provide a direct link to the article in your posting.

Please also try to keep postings in this thread relevant to Denial WIKI article announcements only.

----------------------------

I added a bunch of stuff regarding EPYX and the games it has published (follow the links):

http://sleepingelephant.com/denial/wiki/index.php/EPYX

I also moved the info re. the Datasette from the main page to its own article page:

http://sleepingelephant.com/denial/wiki ... /Datasette

As for the front page article called "DENIAL WIKI HOME". This has become a huge article encompassing too many things. It should really be an introduction page, welcoming users and describing the contents, goals and philosphophy of the DENIAL WIKI. I did add a short blurb to this effect, but the page really has be be re-organised and much of the stuff moved off it.

As it now stands, the front page has become a huge catch-all article on the function of the VIC-20 and its peripherals.

The VIC-20 "proper" should have its own article (i.e. and article just about the computer console, its hardware and development --- not including any peripherals or accessories).

When you search for "VIC-20" on the Denial WIKI, there is no such article.
That's not right. The first part of the article (i.e. HISTORY and below.) now on "DENIAL WIKI HOME" should make up the basis for a new page/article just called "VIC-20".

I've already started to break this page up into individual articles...

I'm writing this at 1:30pm so please forgive any spelling mistakes in the above or the articles. I'll probably notice them in the morning and correct them.

I'm not sure this is in line with other Wikipedia articles I've read. Normally it is an all-encompassing page covering the history, technical specs, etc. When a section needs more than one or two paragraphs, then it gets broken off into its own section.

That's just been my experience with Wikipedia.

What I'm trying to state is that the article entitled "DENIAL WIKI HOME" (was until today) a history of the VIC-20 and a bunch of technical stuff. Seems intuitive to me that this should go under an article entitled "VIC-20".

I'm pretty sure the articles on peripherals, history, etc. etc. will eventually end up many pages long when we all get through with them. There's just so much to say about each thing....There's not much there now, but there's also a lot that has to be fleshed out.

For instance, the datasette article still needs to be updated with technical info on the signal encoding process, cleaning tips, variations in hardware, cloning/copying methods, pics of the internals, etc. I imagine it will be about twice as long at that point.

Hi

Ok this is my first upload

http://sleepingelephant.com/denial/wiki ... p/Ricochet

Dont have time this morning for a better text, basically just trying out the upload functions of the wiki ... and tap download ability.

This file hasnt been archived anywhere else, whats the political point of view on hosting taps/prg/roms on the wiki? Should we go with the "remove if we get a complain" trick?

Great stuff! Thanks for completing the EPYX sectiona and for matching your entry's look to the other EPYX entries I made.

I was holding back on posting binaries...I'll wait and see what the general consensus is.

You've made a good job there, after a while maybe we could form a template (i really just copied the codes from CCC and replaced the image names). My current standard is box/instruction height to be 1080 pixels
(thats me and my HD monitor :)

I also added a missing scan to CCC. (i also have all cards and manual, but that would take a long time to scan).

Id love to have a skeleton wiki page for both Broderbund and Creative ...
i have plenty to contribute there.

Thanks for this. I didn't like the Cartridge/Tape separation. publishers have catalogs of titles, not only carts.

I actually have all the CCC documentation scanned already (cards, manual, etc), plus Rescue at Rigel and Sword of Fargoal....but I didn't want to overload the page with scans just yet. I might add some of the monster cards in future.

Was just chatting with Jeff and he agrees with us that a standard game "Template" is needed. Should have information like media format, controllers, number of players, genre, publisher, author, year, product number, etc.

I dunno...I think either the badge or the logo ought to be displayed a lot bigger and centered at the top of the page. What do you think?

It's back. It goes out now and then for some reason... I really think I have an unreliable host. They're service really needs some improvement.

Made some additions to the Denial WIKI:

new article for VIC-1001 computer: http://sleepingelephant.com/denial/wiki ... p/VIC-1001
new article for VC-20: http://sleepingelephant.com/denial/wiki/index.php/VC-20
new article for Waterloo Structured BASIC: http://sleepingelephant.com/denial/wiki ... ured_Basic

I also found that two people had written separate datasette articles, so I merged the info:

http://sleepingelephant.com/denial/wiki ... /Datasette

The VIC-1001 and VC-20 articles are very basic and could use fleshing out if anyone has more info. There are obviously still a lot of gaps in some of the main articles.

Oh and I started a peripherals page:

http://sleepingelephant.com/denial/wiki ... eripherals

I also created a lot of links between keywords among the articles.

Lastly - I have been gathering VIC images off the 'net for years and haven't always done a good job of noting where they are from. So if I have inadvertantly poached an image you created - thanks for helping out the WIKI and if you want a photo credit I will add it to the article (I think some of the VC-1001 images are from a Denial member).
