VICE HELP!!!!

Hi all,

I am currently doing an article on Tronix for Retro Gamer magazine but I can't get most of the games to work in VICE. I have tried multiple different files and just get an error message or it just doesn't do anything at all when I try to run them.

It might be that I am doing something wrong, as I can't get any cartridge images to work at all, or it might well be I don't have working files but I have no idea which.

So I was hoping that somebody could either help me get them to work or just grab some high quality PRG or BMP screenshots for me to use.

The games in questions are:

Galactic Blitz
Gold Fever
Swarm
Scorpion

Thanks in advance!

Well, they should all work in GB20, so not sure what's going wrong there. Scorpion and Gold Fever are probably cartridges, so soft reset after attaching them first to the correct memory locations.

That program is fantastic! It has changed a few of my files so they work now, but not all of them.

Scorpion and Gold Fever are both .a0 and I still can't get them to work.

Where can I find this GB20, I googled but no joy for working downloads, just lots of discussions and dead links. I got most of these files from the Zimmers list.

Ignore me, I tried some other versions from the TOSEC archive and they all work now thanks to that marvelous program!

You lot are amazing and I hope you like the article when it comes out! :D

As predicted, because they were cartridge images. If you ever see 20(00), 40(00), 60(00), or A0(00) in the file name or suffix for Vic20 images, then it's an indication of the memory location ($2000, $4000, $6000, $A000) you need to attach the file to using the cartridge menu in VICE.

I was looking for GB20 as well and found Robert Hurst's page. I am not sure if this is the most up-to-date version.

Yes, it's the most up to date. Real life swamps me, I'm hoping to try and complete the re-organising of GB20 by the end of this year, and maybe hand it over to someone else to continue.
