Getting "too slow" messages in LINUX VICE

You said "if", I do not. Pretty much the same is not the same. SDL rendering, window, and full screen management is altogether different. Even VICE ini variables distinguishes between the two, which is most annoying. How about some convergence there to make your point matter? ;)

Hey, big difference between them. 2.4.6 is a major uplift over 2.4.0.

Pretty much the same is not the same. SDL rendering, window, and full screen management is altogether different.
no, it isnt. with no hardware acceleration both would use your OSs software blitting, with acceleration both would use GL. the only difference would be some gluecode, which is really negligible. certainly it makes no differences regarding performance (except you are running it without x11 - but thats a completely different thing)
it's probably whatever is the latest official stable VICE for Linux.
that would be 2.4 then - hence i am wondering :)
